Xidia, also known as Xidia: The Incident, is the first part in the Jones Saga. Released in 2001 it was developed by Team Phalanx.

While Xidia was not an episode made by the now formed Red Nemesis, it originates the story of Jones and was founded by Team Phalanx members Mister Prophet and Hourences. Under new leadership, Mister Prophet has led Red Nemesis in the continuation of the Jones stories, currently with Residual Decay.

Xidia's story is less defined than later endeavors and centers around the standard fable of a deep space colony that has fallen off the contact radar and requires the aid of marines to figure out what went wrong. If you've watched a science fiction movie since 1986, this might seem familiar. Influenced by more action-orientated games of the time (such as Half-life, Alien Vs Predator, and Red Faction) Xidia made an impact at upon its release...beating the mammoth ONP to the punch by coming out first and even featuring an iconic level that was later reused in the larger pack. Xidia was later released as Xidia Gold, a special edition version that came with an encore campaign. In the time since, the originality of many of the level themes went on to set standards in how community packs depicted, and continue to depict Skaarj themes. It also set a standard unseen previously in Unreal or Unreal Tournament for BSP based terrain use. Now with the final patch, Xidia Gold can be played in all its glory.

Jones returns to Xidia in Residual Decay, the final chapter of the Jones trilogy.

Characters

Image
Private Jones

Jones is the main protagonist. Recently demoted due to a disagreement with a superior officer, Jones is not favored highly amongst his commanders. He tends to be a loner, often sticking to himself in fire fights and distancing himself from his fellow marines. While his actions have often allowed him to get the drop on the enemy and actually helped his team set up their perimeter, his superiors see him as a soldier who clearly disregards orders. This has cost him promotions numerous times and on many occassions his actions in the field have brought him firm reprimands. The fact that he tends to get results is the only reason he hasn't been discharged.
With Xidia, his superiors figured they'd make use of his finer skills and have ordered him to scout the perimeter once touch-down has been established. His orders are simple enough; Survey the area and confirm threat.

Lt. Crowley
Quite possibly the only officer who likes Jones, Crowley is monitoring the mission from orbit on the USM-IceRaven. He is radio linked to Jones and the other soliders every step of the way. Crowley, while young, is an exceptional officer and tends to believe that every soldier has their proficiencies. In Jones, Crowley sees a reliable scout and closely watches his back throughout the mission.

Administrator Judd

The man in charge of Outpost Phoenix. A Liandri company man who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, Judd is well respected and liked amongst the staff of the mining colony. It is rumored that he once had a short stint as a soldier during the Unified Military Service era along with commander Deckard, the outpost's chief of staff. Unlike other company types who head various corporation colonies in the outer rim, Judd doesn't wear a necktie and a suit. He's the kind of guy who fits in with the workers and spends most of his time personally supervising the mining shifts.
